Hale is not a doctor

Hale is an AI-powered information assistant that helps you understand your health. It does not diagnose or name diseases, and it does not recommend treatments, medicines or doses. It is not a medical device. Nothing Hale says replaces an examination or the judgment of a doctor, pharmacist or other health professional.

AI can make mistakes, give incomplete or outdated information, and cannot know everything about your situation. Never ignore or delay professional medical advice because of something you read in Hale.

Emergencies

For chest pain or pressure; signs of stroke (face drooping, arm or leg weakness, speech trouble); severe shortness of breath; a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the lips or tongue; fainting or confusion; bleeding that will not stop; a seizure; thoughts of harming yourself; suspected poisoning or overdose; bleeding during pregnancy; or fever in a baby under 3 months, do not wait for the app: call your local emergency number now (for example 911 in the US, 112 in the EU and Türkiye, 999 in the UK).

When Hale sees these signs it only points you to emergency help and opens the emergency card. Emergency numbers vary by country; check that the number shown is right for where you are.

Symptom guide

The urgency levels in the symptom guide (emergency now, see a doctor today, see a doctor in a few days, watch at home) are general guidance, not an examination. If you feel worse or are worried, contact a health professional without waiting for the level to change.

Medicines and interactions

Do not stop a medicine, change a dose or start a new prescription medicine without talking to your doctor or pharmacist first.

Medicine guide information comes from public sources and AI summaries and may be incomplete. The interaction check may not find every interaction. If you see a serious warning or are unsure, ask your pharmacist. Remember that reminders can be delayed.

Test results and health records

Explanations of test results are general information. Reference ranges vary by laboratory, method, age and sex. A value outside the range does not always mean illness, and a value inside the range does not guarantee that all is well.

Values read from documents may contain errors; always compare with the original report. If Hale sees a value at a critical level it tells you to contact your doctor or the lab the same day; the absence of this warning does not mean there is no problem.

The doctor visit summary is generated from your own records; it is not a medical record and does not replace your doctor's own assessment.

Special situations

Information is given with extra caution for pregnancy and breastfeeding, children under 12, people over 65 and people with kidney or liver disease; always consult a health professional in these situations. When you use Hale for a child or relative through a family profile, make decisions together with that person's doctor.

Measurements and health score

Measurements from Apple Health, Health Connect or manual entry can be inaccurate depending on the device. The health score is a motivational indicator calculated from medicine adherence, sleep, steps, heart rate trend, follow-ups and how recent your records are. It is not a medical assessment.

Mental health

Hale is not a crisis line or a therapy service. If you are thinking about harming yourself, call your emergency number or a crisis line in your country now, and reach out to someone you trust.
